12th BAPTIST CHURCH “El Sembrador”

Our church is located in the northern part of the city of Guantánamo, Cuba. According to official data, the population of the northern area is approximately 34,057 inhabitants, spread over a territorial area of 51.2 km², with a population density of 655 inhabitants per km² and 11,308 family units. Regarding age, there is a clear aging population, with 20.2% being 60 years old or older. Due to massive migrations and economic hardships, this population, in particular, is at a clear social disadvantage. Many of these elderly people live alone and subsist on very low incomes.

Our church is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission and sharing the gospel message with this city, Cuba, and the world. We believe that our mission is guaranteed by the words of Jesus: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Amen.” The work of the Lord is growing and strengthening in Cuba, and we have experienced that aid, thanks to brothers like you, is of great help for the extension of the Kingdom of God, as we can place it in the hands of those who need it most. As the Word of God explains in James 2:15-16, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”

That is why our faith has not been in vain, nor has yours. We thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for the aid we have received from you, and in response to your request, we detail our main needs for community work.

For children and adults:

  • Analgesics, vitamins, nutritional supplements, pain and fever medications, antibiotics, antiparasitics, antacids for digestive disorders, antiemetics, antidiarrheals, rehydration salts.

For adults, we need:

  • Antihypertensives, 81 mg aspirin, medications for hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, oral anticoagulants like Rivaroxaban and systemic ones like heparins, insulins, and oral hypoglycemics.

Medical supplies also important include:

  • Dressings, syringes (especially for insulin), insulin pumps, gloves, urinary catheters, sphygmomanometers, thermometers, colostomy bags, anti-bedsore mattresses, eyeglasses, wheelchairs, elastic stockings and bandages, sutures, needles for venipuncture, catheters for hemodialysis, and tracheostomy cannulas.

We pray that our good God will bless you more each day and increase the fruits of your righteousness, as the Apostle Paul also says, “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Corinthians 9:10).
